OS Photofit is a National Map Cover Photography Competition that was launched as part of the refresh of the OS brand. The organisation wanted customers to engage more with the brand, so they came up with the idea of a national online competition that allows members of the public to upload their own photographs and vote on the winning shot. The winning photographs from the competition will be featured on the newly updated iconic OS paper maps.
Our development team had an extremely tight deadline of just two months to work with – to not only build the interface and the back end from scratch but to fully test the site before it was launched.
The OS Photofit website, which ran for nearly a year, received 15,000 hits and 700 uploads within 24 hours of going live. The site was a huge success and over the course of the competition over 65,000 users visited the website attracting over 15,000 entries.
"We have been delighted with the launch of OS Photofit. It has been a pleasure working with local based company Studio Republic who have been nothing short of professional and efficient in the delivery of this creative and innovative project. We are very proud of our iconic paper map range which carries such a strong emotional attachment for many people, it was important that we got this right first time, The level of interest, press take up and early results have been excellent"Nick Giles, Managing Director, Ordnance Survey Leisure
