Our latest offering – fully integrated estate agency websites

We were recently challenged with creating a website for local estate agency. Like most estate agents, they use a system called Expert Agent to manage their property listings. The system is great, but the standard option for displaying properties on a website didn't fit with the new look and feel we had in mind for the website. Expert Agent and other similar providers offer a website design service, but with the greatest of respect to them, this is not the primary focus of their business and their designs seem to be based on predesigned templates rather than the consultative approach agencies like Studio Republic offer.

The brief for the SR team was to combine the power and flexibility of the Expert Agent system with an entirely bespoke design. Using the MODX CMS, the website we built automatically pulls all the property details from Expert Agent and stores them locally. This data is then used it to enable visitors to search based on location, price, bedrooms and property type.

The advantages of our approach are:

• Data is stored locally, so if Expert Agent goes down, the website remains active
• Each property has its own page on the website, creating a URL to link to and giving the website a boost in search rankings
• Should the client wish to change from Expert Agent to another system in the future we can link into a new provider’s API or develop a bespoke system without having to redesign the website.
